Works by Rachel Woolford

Rachel Woolford, who recently made the move from rural Waikato to Wellington, became interested in photography when she was given a camera by her mother. Until recently, she has focused mainly on wildlife and scenic photography, making this series of works an exciting new venture for her.

I like taking photos of things in their natural environments and I have a fascination with the sea. When I took these photos, I was exploring the effects of natural backgrounds on the subject. By capturing moments of interaction between the model and her environment, I am able to show aspects of her personality that would be missed in traditional indoor portraiture.
